To honor Aerosmith’s 50th Anniversary tour, ALT TERRAIN devised a city-wide projection initiative that illuminated five significant locations with dynamic Aerosmith-themed visuals.
Notably, 1325 Commonwealth Avenue in Allston — affectionately known as the “Aerosmith Apartment” — served as a canvas for these projections. This building holds historical significance as the band’s original residence in the early 1970s.
Frontman Steven Tyler made an unannounced visit to the Allston apartment on the eve of the concert. Engaging with current residents and the press, Tyler reminisced about the band’s humble beginnings, sharing anecdotes about their early days and the makeshift recording setup they once had in the building’s basement.
The campaign culminated in a landmark concert at Boston’s Fenway Park, drawing a record-breaking crowd of over 38,700 fans — the highest attendance for a concert at the iconic stadium.
Cultural Resonance
Everyone already knew about the concert, so why do this at all?
Its intent was to amplify.
